The LemonTree Lowdown

LemonTree reflects the creativity, taste, and standards that today's enterprising audio professionals and clients demand and deserve.

The LemonTree facilities in the "Arts District" DTLA and HIGHLAND PARK are both located in exciting and creative neighborhoods. Besides having a stellar studio to create, you can enjoy a fantastic coffee, dining, live music, entertainment, and more.

Both locations feature a large shared lounge, work area, kitchen, and plentiful parking behind our buildings. The Highland Park Gold Line Metro stop is right behind that location with the DTLA Union Station, or Pasadena, only one stop away!

Erik was the best landlord I have ever had as an independent producer/engineer. He’s a producer and an engineer himself, so he gets it! The studio offered me everything I needed to be creative, and clients loved working there too! The plug-and-play setup is awesome as I was able to just bring all my gear in and set up exactly how I wanted. No other place like it in LA!

LemonTree Studios is a wonderful space to master music in; it has style, community, sounds great and is built with the attention to detail only an audio/music professional would appreciate. And because of this detail I trust that the energy I’m hearing in the studio will translate everywhere out of the studio.

Focusrite/DANTE

DANTE used for multitrack recording at LemonTree Studios, Highland Park

Every studio is connected to our live room via Dante connections using Focusrite Rednet Gear. Dante replaces all connections with a computer network, effortlessly sending video or hundreds of channels of audio over slender Ethernet cables with perfect fidelity.

All connections are managed with software, making routing fast, organized, and reliable. And because all devices share the same network; signals can be sent between any devices no matter where they are located in the studio, with no change to the wiring at all. Dante systems are easily expanded, exactly as one would add a printer to a network. Just connect additional devices to any available network jack and start working.

When I started to look for a room around Los Angeles, my prospects for a locked-out single studio room were very limited. Of the few options I found, all had some serious disadvantages. That is until I happened to find the LemonTree website. Within a day or so, I was visiting the studios. Almost like magic, it was exactly what I was looking for. A single room, acoustically treated, in a great facility and in a great neighborhood.

PMC & Dolby Atmos

In cooperation with the Professional Monitoring Company (PMC) and Dolby, LemonTree in Highland Park features a state of the art Atmos mix room. This studio acts as a hub for the high end audio community with regular demo, mix and listening sessions.

Maurice Patist, President PMC USA, says:

"The full Dolby Atmos set up in our LA studio reflects our strategic partnership with Dolby and Universal Music Group, bringing the Atmos immersive format closer to the music production market," he says. "The studio exists of an LCR of MB3-XBD-A monitoring, twotwoSub.2 for LFE channels and a selection of our Wafer on-wall monitors for all the surround and height channels, similar to the systems already installed at Capitol Studios.

These are not commercial facilities as their primary function is to privately demo the entire PMC product line. However, we will be encouraging Los Angeles and New York-based music production clients and other members of the PMC family to use them, like Capitol Records at LemonTree.”

Ron ‘Spider’ Entwistle adds:

"The PMC community in LA is growing. We're growing in number, and we're learning from each other. Our new studio will be a place where we can host sessions, workshops, live streams, interviews…anything we can dream up to let clients see for themselves what PMC's strengths are.”

Lemontree has been an amazing creative home for me since moving to LA last January. It’s the tightest, most precise room I’ve ever worked in, and the bleed from neighbors’ rooms is nearly non-existent. The other tenants are awesome and supportive of each other’s work and I’ve made some great friends. Also, the location couldn’t be better! There’s so much to do on Figueroa.

The Neighborhood

LemonTree Studios, Highland Park

Sharing the building in Highland Park is Chops Butcher Shop, Dave's Chillin' & Grillin deli, The Blind Barber barbershop and speakeasy, and Ontoño Spanish Tapas Restaurant for a chill meet up.

Just out our front door is the main drag of Figueroa Street featuring Hippo, Civil Coffee, Triple Beam Pizza, Kitchen Mouse, Gimme Gimme Records, a weekly farmers market, the Gold Line Vinyl Bar, and Highland Park Bowl. You can also catch some live music at the Lodge Room, ETA, or Checker Hall.

All of this is within a few blocks walk when you want to take a break, entertain, or need some inspiration.

LemonTree has been a sanctuary for me since I first moved in. The space is so carefully treated that it strips away any environmental concerns like noise and temperature, such that all I focus on is the music itself, from film scoring to my electronic work. And you simply can’t beat the location!
